Sat Jan 25 12:40:00 IST 2025: **Torrey Pines Gale Forces Suspension, Aberg and Griffin Share Farmers Insurance Open Lead**

SAN DIEGO, CA – High winds forced an 86-minute suspension of play during the second round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines on Thursday, leaving 29 golfers unable to complete their rounds. Gusts exceeding 35 mph made playing conditions extremely challenging, impacting scores significantly.

Ludvig Aberg and Lanto Griffin emerged as clubhouse leaders at 6-under par, despite the challenging weather. Aberg, the first-round leader, carded a 3-over 75, while Griffin shot an even-par 72. Griffin described the conditions as “brutal,” emphasizing the difficulty of maintaining pars in the strong winds.

Danny Walker sits one stroke behind the leaders after a 2-over 74. Several other players, including Hayden Springer, Chris Gotterup, and Sungjae Im, are two strokes off the pace. Gotterup notably shot a 3-under 69, one of the day’s best rounds.

Amateur Luke Clanton of Florida State impressed, shooting 1-under through 16 holes on the South Course, putting him in contention for a top-five finish that could earn him a PGA Tour card.

Defending champion Matthieu Pavon missed the cut after a second-round 80, while 2023 champion Max Homa withdrew during the wind delay.

The second round will conclude Friday morning at 7:30 am, followed immediately by the third round for the projected 65 players who make the cut (projected at +1). The final two rounds will be played on the South Course.
