Seithekema, Nagaland – The 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) was celebrated in Nagaland on January 25th, 2025, at Patkai Christian College with a focus on encouraging young people to vote. The event, themed “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,” featured prominent speakers who emphasized the vital role of youth in strengthening Indian democracy.

Thavaseelan K, IAS, Principal Director of School Education, Nagaland, highlighted the importance of the Lok Sabha elections and urged young voters to exercise their right responsibly, free from external pressure. He encouraged them to motivate their families to vote as well.

Polan John, DC & DEO of Chümoukedima, stressed the youth’s potential in shaping the nation’s future and the need to empower first-time voters. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Election Department, educators, and law enforcement in ensuring fair elections.

Vyasan R, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, praised the choice of Patkai Christian College as the venue for its potential to engage young people. He highlighted the Election Department’s extensive preparations for upcoming elections and the crucial roles played by teachers and police in fostering an inclusive electoral process.

The event included a musical performance, award presentations, recognition of first-time voters, and a presentation by the college’s Electoral Literacy Club. The Chief Election Commissioner of India’s message was also conveyed. The celebration concluded with a renewed call to action for active youth participation in the democratic process.
