**GUWAHATI, January 25, 2025** – The 6th Meghalaya Games, concluded today, highlighted the state’s rich cultural heritage by featuring three indigenous games alongside traditional sporting events. Over 3,500 athletes participated in 29 disciplines throughout the six-day competition.
A particular highlight was the *rah moo khrah*, a Jaintia Hills game demanding incredible strength. Competitors race 25 meters while carrying an oval stone weighing between 24.4 kg and a staggering 138.1 kg. The winner is crowned “Ki Mar,” signifying the strongest person in the region. Medals were awarded to the top three finishers at the Dulong Football Playground in Jowai.
Two other indigenous games were also showcased: *mawpoiń*, a Khasi game where two teams compete in building stone stacks while evading opponents; and *an·ding oka*, a Garo game involving pulling a bamboo pole.
The Meghalaya Games, the state’s largest sporting event, successfully blended modern sports with the unique traditions of its diverse communities.
