Sat Jan 25 04:30:30 UTC 2025: ## Philippines Launches Comic Book to Counter China’s South China Sea Disinformation

**Manila, Philippines –** The Philippines launched a 40-page comic book, “The Stories of Teacher Jun,” on Friday to combat what it describes as China’s disinformation campaign regarding territorial disputes in the South China Sea. The comic uses colorful illustrations to explain the complex issue in a simplified manner, showcasing the Philippine perspective and criticizing China’s actions, which are depicted as bullying and outrageous.

National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano stated that China continues to spread misleading narratives to justify its claims. The Philippines aims to counter this with facts and transparency, highlighting its maritime rights and exposing China’s alleged unlawful activities.

The comic book, distributed to students and those in remote areas, is part of a broader strategy to counter China’s assertive behavior in the South China Sea. This includes previous efforts like releasing videos and photographs of China’s actions, and strengthening alliances with countries like the U.S. and Canada, whose ambassadors attended the launch. While China has yet to comment, it has consistently reiterated its expansive claims to the waterway. Approximately 11,000 copies have been distributed, with plans for more depending on funding. The book is also intended for foreign audiences, with translations planned as needed.
