Sat Jan 25 10:19:27 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Confirms First Mpox Case of 2025

**Islamabad, January 25, 2025** – Pakistan has reported its first case of Mpox in 2025, detected at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport. A 35-year-old individual arriving from Dubai tested positive for the virus. The Health Ministry confirmed the case, stating that airport screening procedures identified the patient.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health advisor Ehtesham Ali, the patient was immediately transferred to Police Services Hospital for testing and treatment. Contact tracing is underway, with authorities requesting passenger manifests to identify individuals who may have been in close proximity to the infected person.

While the provincial health advisor reported a total of ten Mpox cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (two in 2023, seven in 2024, and one in 2025), a discrepancy exists with the Health Ministry’s December 2024 report of eight cases.

Health officials assure the public that robust screening measures are in place at all airports to prevent further spread and comply with international health regulations. Both federal and provincial governments are committed to combating the virus.
