Sat Jan 25 04:20:00 UTC 2025: ## India Celebrates 15th National Voters’ Day, Highlights Growing Electorate

**New Delhi, January 25, 2025** – India marked its 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) today with a ceremony in New Delhi, celebrating the country’s robust democracy and the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) 75th anniversary in 2025. President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest, presenting awards for best electoral practices.

The event highlighted the significant growth of India’s electorate, which now stands at 99.1 crore registered voters, nearing the 100 crore mark. This includes a substantial increase in young voters (21.7 crore in the 18-29 age group) and an improved gender ratio (954 women per 1000 men, a six-point increase from 2024). The theme for NVD 2025, “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,” emphasized the importance of citizen participation in shaping the nation’s leadership.

National Voters’ Day, observed annually since 2011, commemorates the ECI’s founding in 1950. It aims to promote voter awareness and encourage participation, particularly among young people newly eligible to vote. The day is celebrated nationwide, with new voters receiving their Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) at ceremonies across the country.
