**Hyderabad, January 26, 2025** – Manda Krishna Madiga, a prominent social activist, has been awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to Public Affairs. Mr. Madiga spearheaded a long-running public movement advocating for the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC) reservations, aiming to secure better opportunities for the Madiga community and its sub-castes within the existing SC framework.

Founder of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), a significant force in Telangana politics since 1999, Mr. Madiga’s efforts culminated in a Supreme Court ruling paving the way for SC categorization, subject to certain conditions. While unsuccessful in several electoral bids, his advocacy established him as a national figurehead in the fight for sub-caste reservation rights within the SC community.
