Sat Jan 25 23:29:42 IST 2025: ## India Edges Out England in Thrilling T20 Match

**Chennai, India** – India secured a thrilling two-wicket victory over England in the second T20I match played in Chennai today, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved shrewd.

England, batting first, posted a challenging 165/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Jos Buttler top-scoring with 45 runs off 30 balls and Brydon Carse contributing a quick-fire 31 from 17. India’s spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel led the bowling attack, each claiming two wickets apiece.

India’s chase was far from smooth. They lost their openers, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, cheaply within the first six balls. While Tilak Varma provided a steady anchor, he lacked substantial support from the other end. Suryakumar Yadav (12 runs) and Dhruv Jurel (4 runs) also failed to capitalize. Hardik Pandya also failed to make an impact.

However, a crucial partnership between Varma and Washington Sundar (26 off 19) revived India’s hopes. A nervy finish saw Varma hitting a boundary in the final over to secure a nail-biting win for India with just one ball to spare. Arshdeep Singh also contributed six runs before being dismissed.

Both teams made two changes to their playing XIs. India brought in Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar, replacing Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy respectively. England saw the debuts of Jamie Smith.

Despite a valiant effort from England’s bowlers, including Jofra Archer and Liam Livingston, India’s determination and Varma’s late heroics proved decisive. The series now moves to Rajkot for the final T20I.
