**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, January 25, 2025** – Kerala University has filed a police complaint against the Students Federation of India (SFI) demanding the removal of a protest tent erected on university grounds. The SFI began an indefinite protest on Friday over the alleged refusal by the acting Vice-Chancellor, Mohanan Kunnummal, to allow newly elected student union office-bearers to take their oath of office, four months after the elections.

The university issued show-cause notices to security personnel for failing to prevent the protest, and the Vice-Chancellor ordered the tent’s removal. However, the SFI remains defiant, vowing to continue until their demands are met. The Vice-Chancellor delayed the official election results announcement following a clash between SFI and Kerala Students Union activists during the election process. An investigation into this incident is currently underway.
