Sat Jan 25 08:03:39 UTC 2025: ## Vande Bharat Express Completes Successful Trial Run in Kashmir Valley

**Jammu, January 25, 2025** – A specially designed Vande Bharat Express train successfully completed its maiden trial run from Katra to Srinagar on Saturday, marking a major milestone in connecting the Kashmir Valley to the national rail network. The train, equipped with features to withstand the region’s harsh winter conditions, arrived at Srinagar station at 11:30 am to a warm welcome from officials and residents.

The train, which arrived in Jammu on Friday, is designed to operate seamlessly even in sub-zero temperatures. It boasts advanced heating systems for water and bio-toilet tanks, warm air for the vacuum system, and an enhanced air-brake system. Additionally, embedded heating elements in the windshield ensure clear visibility for the driver. The train also retains all the amenities of standard Vande Bharat trains.

The successful trial run follows the completion of 272 kilometers of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, including the impressive Anji Khad bridge—one of the world’s two highest railway bridges. The Anji Khad bridge, standing 331 meters above the riverbed, is a testament to engineering excellence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to officially inaugurate the service from Katra soon, following the commissioner of railway safety’s approval. The exact date remains unannounced. This development represents a significant step towards completing the USBRL project and enhancing connectivity and economic opportunities in the Kashmir Valley.
