Sat Jan 25 16:20:06 UTC 2025: **India Take Control in Thrilling Second T20I Against England**

Chennai, India – India levelled the five-match T20I series against England with a nail-biting victory in the second match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After a dominant win for India in Kolkata, the Chennai match proved to be a much closer contest, with both teams showcasing exciting spells of both batting and bowling.

England’s pace attack made an early impact, with Jofra Archer and Mark Wood dismissing Abhishek Sharma (12) and Sanju Samson respectively in the powerplay, leaving India reeling at 22/2. However, Suryakumar Yadav (12) and Tilak Varma (35) then counter-attacked, hitting a few boundaries before Brydon Carse’s strikes removed Yadav and Dhruv Jurel (4), once again putting the brakes on India’s run-scoring.

Earlier, England’s innings followed a similar pattern to the first T20I. Despite a strong start from Jos Buttler (45) and a positive contribution from Harry Brook, who once again struggled against Varun Chakravarthy, India’s spin bowlers restricted England to 165/9. Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar were particularly effective in the powerplay, while Axar Patel also claimed a crucial wicket of Buttler.

India’s bowling attack proved too much for England in the end, and the hosts claimed a comfortable win in a game that saw several twists and turns.

Several injuries marred the match. India’s Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the series with a side strain, while Rinku Singh will miss the second and third matches due to a back spasm. These injuries prompted India to bring in Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel as replacements.

Despite the injuries and England’s early success with the ball, India’s batting depth and superior spin bowling ultimately proved decisive in securing a crucial victory in the series. The series now heads to another venue with the score at 1-1.
