Sat Jan 25 15:06:25 UTC 2025: ## India Dominates England in Chennai T20, Sets 166-Run Target
**Chennai, India** – India defeated England by 9 wickets in the second T20I of their five-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Winning the toss, India captain Suryakumar Yadav elected to bowl first. England’s batting struggled against India’s spin attack, posting a total of 157/9 in their 20 overs.
India’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel, who each claimed two wickets. Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, and Abhishek Sharma also chipped in with a wicket each. England’s innings was marked by several collapses of partnerships, with the highlight being the run out of Brandon Carlos, whose misunderstanding with Jofra Archer cost them valuable runs.
The England innings also featured a solid 45 run contribution from captain Jos Buttler, which was however not enough against the combined efforts of the Indian bowlers. Despite late-innings resistance from Archer, the target proved to be challenging.
The Indian team, meanwhile, made changes to their squad. Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel replaced the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh, respectively. Mohammed Shami was once again omitted from the playing XI.
Despite a slightly improved batting performance from England compared to the first match, the 166-run target is deemed manageable for India, setting the stage for a possible series clinching win for the home team. The series now moves to the third match, with India holding a comfortable 2-0 lead.
