Asheville, NC – January 24, 2025 – President Trump’s administration launched a large-scale deportation operation Thursday, arresting 538 undocumented immigrants, including those with criminal records and suspected terrorists, and deporting over 1,000 others via military aircraft. Among those arrested were 373 individuals with criminal records and 165 with only immigration violations. President Trump himself confirmed the operation’s progress, stating that the administration was targeting “bad, hard criminals.”

However, the operation has drawn criticism. Newark, New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka reported that ICE agents conducted a raid detaining both undocumented residents and U.S. citizens, including a military veteran, without warrants.
