Sat Jan 25 11:09:27 UTC 2025: ## Cat Completes Three Flights in 24 Hours After Being Left on Plane

**Melbourne, Australia –** A New Zealand cat named Mittens unexpectedly became a frequent flyer after being accidentally left on a plane and completing three flights between New Zealand and Australia in a single day. The mishap occurred on January 13th when Mittens, traveling with her owner Margo Neas from Christchurch to Melbourne, was overlooked by airline staff. Her carrier was reportedly obscured by a wheelchair, causing baggage handlers to miss her during unloading.

After a three-hour wait, Neas was informed that Mittens was already back on a flight to New Zealand. A pet relocation company, previously hired for the trip, intervened to facilitate Mittens’ return to Melbourne.

Air New Zealand issued a statement expressing regret for the incident, stating they are working with ground handlers to prevent similar occurrences. The airline has also promised to reimburse Neas for all expenses incurred during Mittens’ unplanned adventure.

Neas, understandably relieved to be reunited with her cat, reported that the ordeal has unexpectedly transformed Mittens’ personality, making her unusually affectionate. “She ran straight into my arms and snuggled up,” Neas shared, adding that the ordeal has resulted in a significant increase in cuddles for the usually aloof feline.
