**New Delhi, January 25, 2025** – President Droupadi Murmu called on voters to prioritize integrity and resist undue influence during elections, emphasizing the importance of informed participation in strengthening Indian democracy. Addressing the 15th National Voters’ Day event today, she highlighted the need for voters to transcend narrow-mindedness and discrimination while exercising their franchise.
President Murmu lauded the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) adoption of new technologies to enhance transparency and efficiency in the electoral process. She expressed confidence in the continued success of Indian democracy as a global model. The event was attended by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, and other ECI officials, along with representatives from various political parties.
National Voters’ Day, observed annually on January 25th, commemorates the establishment of the ECI in 1950.
