**Bhandara, Maharashtra –** A powerful explosion at an ordnance factory in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, on Friday, January 24, 2025, resulted in the deaths of eight workers and injuries to five others. The blast, which occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the Low Temperature Plastic Explosives (LTPE) building, completely destroyed the structure. Thirteen workers were present at the time of the explosion.
A committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Labour (Central), Nagpur, has been formed to investigate the incident. The inquiry is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 27, 2025. The Ordnance Factory Bhandara has also launched its own internal investigation.
The cause of the blast remains under investigation, but the incident has raised serious concerns about safety protocols at the facility. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the explosion and implement measures to prevent future accidents.
