**ALAPPUZHA, Kerala, January 25, 2025** – Former Kerala Chief Secretary and acclaimed writer K. Jayakumar was bestowed with the prestigious Azhikode Smaraka Award 2024 on Friday. The award, presented by Mahatma Gandhi University’s former Vice-Chancellor Cyriac Thomas, recognizes Jayakumar’s significant contributions to art and literature.

The ceremony, held at Thottappally in Alappuzha, coincided with a program marking the 13th death anniversary of Dr. Sukumar Azhikode, after whom the award is named. The Azhikode Smaraka Award, instituted by the Dr. Sukumar Azhikode Vichara Vedi, includes a cash prize of ₹11,111, a citation, and a plaque.
