Sat Jan 25 21:26:19 IST 2025: ## Indian Pacer Arshdeep Singh Crowned ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year

**Mumbai, India** – Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm pacer instrumental in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory, has been named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024. The 25-year-old beat out stiff competition from Babar Azam (Pakistan), Travis Head (Australia), and Sikander Raza (Zimbabwe) to claim the prestigious award.

Singh’s impressive 2024 statistics – 36 wickets in 18 matches – solidified his position as a leading T20 bowler. His contributions were crucial to India’s World Cup triumph, where he ended as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps in eight matches. His performance in the final, which included two crucial wickets and a tight penultimate over, was instrumental in securing India’s victory. His best figures in the tournament were a remarkable 4/9 against the USA.

Earlier in the day, Singh was also named in the ICC T20I Team of the Year 2024 alongside fellow Indians Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya. He recently surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s highest T20I wicket-taker, currently standing at 97 wickets, and is just three wickets away from the 100-wicket milestone. Despite playing fewer matches than some other high wicket-takers in 2024, only one other full-member nation’s bowler, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, took more wickets. This achievement underscores Singh’s consistent excellence and vital role in India’s T20 success.
