Sat Jan 25 16:11:39 UTC 2025: **Tiruppur Police Arrest 36 Bangladeshi Nationals for Illegal Stay**
TIRUPPUR, January 26, 2025 – The Coimbatore unit of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) detained and handed over 36 Bangladeshi nationals to Tiruppur police on Thursday and Friday. The individuals, posing as migrant workers from North India, had been working in the city’s garment sector for several months, some for over a year.
The arrests followed searches conducted by the ATS, led by Superintendent of Police V. Badrinarayanan, across the jurisdictions of 15 Velampalayam, Tiruppur South, and Nallur police stations. Twenty Bangladeshi nationals were detained in 15 Velampalayam, ten in Nallur, and six in Tiruppur South.
After questioning and document verification, the detainees were arrested by the police and remanded to judicial custody for illegally staying in India. The police have registered cases against all 36 individuals.
