**New Delhi, January 25, 2025** – Delhi marked the 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) on Saturday with a series of events aimed at boosting voter participation, especially among first-time voters. The theme, “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,” underscored the importance of electoral engagement in a vibrant democracy.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R Alice Vaz highlighted the day’s significance, emphasizing the Election Commission of India’s commitment to educating and empowering voters. The celebrations included a welcoming ceremony with dignitaries, an address from the Chief Election Commissioner, and a recitation of the NVD pledge.
First-time voters received their Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and were felicitated. A Delhi Election Quiz, held across the city’s 11 districts, awarded cash prizes to the top three winners in each district. A total of 16 individuals and teams received awards for Best Electoral Practices, recognizing their outstanding contributions to election management at the state and district levels. This included awards for election management, voter education, IT initiatives, and innovative measures.
CEO Vaz reiterated the vital role of voters in a democracy and the ongoing efforts to make elections more inclusive and accessible. The events concluded with a renewed commitment to ensuring fair and participative elections for all.
