**Davos, Switzerland –** The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, opened Tuesday with a focus on global collaboration in the “intelligent age.” Over 3,000 leaders from around the world are attending the five-day summit, which will conclude on January 24th.
The opening ceremony featured the presentation of Crystal Awards to legendary footballer David Beckham and two others, and a concert highlighting the environmental challenges facing Antarctica.
India is heavily represented at the summit, with a large delegation led by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who plans to showcase India’s development model and vision for inclusive growth and digital transformation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness in Amaravati during the summit, aiming to attract global investment. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also emphasized his state’s commitment to forging new global partnerships.
While the WEF initially competed for attention with President Trump’s inauguration, he will address the forum via video link on Thursday, allowing CEOs to engage in a Q&A session. Further participation from the Trump administration is expected later in the week.
