**Guwahati, Assam –** A moderate earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar at 12:53 IST today. The epicenter was located approximately 9 miles east-southeast of Homalin, Myanmar (24.68° N, 94.87° E). While the quake was centered in Myanmar, tremors were felt across parts of Assam, India, causing mild shaking.
Residents in Assam reported feeling the tremors, prompting some to evacuate their homes as a precaution. However, authorities in both Myanmar and Assam have reported no casualties or significant damage to property thus far.
