Fri Jan 24 14:38:28 IST 2025: ## Kerala to Cull Man-Eating Tiger After Tribal Woman’s Death
**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, January 24, 2025** – The Kerala Forest Minister, A.K. Saseendran, announced today that a tiger responsible for the death of a tribal woman in Wayanad on Friday will be shot if capture attempts fail. The incident occurred in the Pancharakolly area.
The Minister stated that authorities will first attempt to capture the tiger using tranquilizers or traps, in accordance with the Wildlife (Protection) Act. However, if these efforts prove unsuccessful and the tiger is confirmed as a man-eater, it will be culled.
Increased vigilance and intensified patrolling are planned for the region, with a rapid action force deployed. The heightened security measures address the potential risks posed not only by tigers but also by other wildlife, including elephants migrating from the neighboring Bandipur region in Karnataka. The Chief Wildlife Warden is expected to issue the official order later today.
