Fri Jan 24 12:00:23 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Struggles Against Jammu and Kashmir in Ranji Trophy
**Mumbai, India** – Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy campaign got off to a shaky start against Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the presence of star players Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mumbai’s batting faltered in their first innings, managing only 120 runs before being bowled out.
Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal, opening the innings, both underperformed. Sharma scored a paltry 3 runs in the first innings and Jaiswal managed only 4. While Sharma showed glimpses of his usual power-hitting in the second innings with 28 runs (including 3 sixes and 2 fours off 35 balls), and Jaiswal contributed 26 (4 fours from 51 balls), the team struggled again, reaching 86/5 at the close of play.
Other Mumbai batsmen also failed to impress. Captain Ajinkya Rahane (12 runs), Shreyas Iyer (11 runs), and Hardik Tamore (7 runs) all made low scores. Only Shardul Thakur provided significant resistance with a half-century (51 runs, including 5 fours and 2 sixes).
This poor performance follows Rohit Sharma’s recent struggles in the Australia tour, where he consistently failed to make a substantial contribution. His scores in Australia included 3, 9, 10, 3, and 6 runs. The entire Indian team struggled in Australia, mirroring Mumbai’s current batting woes in the Ranji Trophy.
