According to Downdetector, approximately 4,000 users reported issues for nearly three hours. OpenAI confirmed the outage, attributing it to elevated error rates and a “bad gateway error.” The company stated the issue was resolved after about 1.5 hours, but the disruption highlighted the reliance on and vulnerability of such widely used AI services. This marks at least the fifth major outage for ChatGPT since December. OpenAI’s API also suffered a separate, one-hour outage.
