**Mumbai, January 24, 2025** – Mumbai Police arrested a 32-year-old autorickshaw driver, Rajratan Sadashiv Vaival, on Friday for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman. Vaival, a resident of Khairpada in Waliv, is accused of assaulting the victim on a beach near Vasai on January 21st before transporting her to Mumbai in his autorickshaw. He allegedly left her unconscious near Ram Mandir and fled the scene.
The victim was hospitalized for treatment. Police launched an investigation following a complaint registered under Section 64(2)(M) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Vanrai police station. A senior investigating officer stated that the arrest was made possible through information from the victim, technical evidence, and informants in the Virar to Churchgate railway area. Vaival was apprehended from a slum in Khairpada. The investigation is ongoing.
