Thu Jan 23 18:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Ford Recalls Over 270,000 Bronco Sport and Maverick Vehicles Due to Battery Failure Risk
**DETROIT, MI – November 20, 2024** – Ford is recalling over 272,000 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles due to potential 12-volt battery failures. The recall, announced today, affects certain 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Ford Maverick models.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue stems from internal problems with the battery’s connections or retaining components. This could lead to several issues, including the vehicle failing to start after an auto-stop, stalling while slowing down, and a loss of power to 12-volt accessories like hazard lights.
While Ford is unaware of any accidents, fires, or injuries related to this defect, NHTSA warns that the failure could increase the risk of a crash. The automaker was alerted to the problem in September 2024 following 19 reports of power loss.
The affected batteries were produced between February 5, 2020, and October 20, 2022. Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for inspection. Vehicles lacking the correct Ford Absorbed Glass Mat 12V battery will receive a free replacement. Owners who previously addressed the issue may be eligible for reimbursement.
