**DETROIT, MI –** Ford is recalling nearly 273,000 Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickup trucks due to potential 12-volt battery failures, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced. The recall encompasses 2021-2023 Bronco Sport SUVs and 2022-2023 Maverick trucks, totaling approximately 272,817 vehicles.
The NHTSA cites potential battery degradation leading to sudden failure, which could result in the loss of crucial electrical components such as hazard lights and, critically, a loss of power, increasing the risk of accidents. Ford attributes the issue to a supplier manufacturing defect.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out starting around February 3rd. Affected vehicle owners will be able to have their vehicles inspected at a Ford dealership, with replacement 12-volt batteries provided free of charge if necessary. There are currently no new alerts related to this recall.
