**Srinagar, January 24, 2025** – Multi-tier security measures, including drone surveillance and spotters, are in place for the Republic Day celebrations in Kashmir, according to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi. Following a full dress rehearsal at Bakshi Stadium, the designated venue for the January 26th event, Birdi assured the public of a smooth and secure celebration. He urged residents to participate in large numbers, stating that arrangements for attendees are in place, requiring only an I-card for entry. Surveillance is also being maintained on known troublemakers, including surrendered militants, Birdi added. The IGP also addressed concerns about alleged narcotics trade, stating that investigations are underway and habitual offenders will face legal action. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, V.K. Bhiduri, echoed the call for greater public participation, highlighting improved arrangements compared to last year’s celebrations.
