**New Delhi, January 24, 2025** – The Delhi High Court has directed the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to make an informed decision regarding the resumption of examinations in Churachandpur district, Manipur. The SSC had suspended exams in the district due to security concerns stemming from ongoing unrest.
The court’s order follows a plea by the Kuki Student Organisation requesting the reinstatement of Churachandpur as an examination venue. The SSC had previously communicated with the Manipur government on December 10, 2024, seeking a security assessment to determine the feasibility of holding exams, including the upcoming Constable (GD) Examination from February 4-25, 2025.
While the Manipur government claims to have responded to the SSC’s request, the court emphasized the need for a fully informed decision based on available security assessments and an affidavit submitted by the Kuki Inpi Delhi & NCR, expressing cooperation in ensuring smooth exam conduct. The court’s order mandates that if the SSC deems the Churachandpur center unsuitable, alternative arrangements must be made and publicized well in advance.
