NEW DELHI, January 24, 2025 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today accused the BJP-led central government and the Delhi Police of plotting to assassinate its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, and demanded the Election Commission restore his Punjab Police security detail. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, at a joint press conference, alleged a conspiracy involving the BJP and Delhi Police to eliminate Kejriwal, citing several alleged attacks on him, including one last October allegedly perpetrated by BJP workers. They claim the Delhi Police, under the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has ignored these threats. A letter has been sent to the Election Commission requesting the restoration of Kejriwal’s security, citing lack of trust in the Delhi Police, and calling for an audit of threats against him. The AAP leaders claim this is a politically motivated move by the BJP ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections. The BJP and Delhi Police have yet to respond to these serious allegations.
