Thu Jan 23 20:03:06 IST 2025: ## Tangedco Employees Escape Injury After Elephant Overturns SUV in Coimbatore
**COIMBATORE, January 23, 2025** – Three employees of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) narrowly escaped serious injury Thursday when a wild elephant overturned their SUV on the Aliyar-Navamalai road near Pollachi.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. as the employees, returning from a powerhouse, encountered a tusker known as “Chilli Komban” near the Athaliamman temple. The driver, Junior Engineer V. Vishwanathan, attempted to reverse the vehicle, but the elephant pushed it, causing it to overturn.
Forest Department officials responded swiftly, chasing away the elephant and rescuing the Tangedco employees. They were treated at the primary health centre in Aliyar for minor injuries. Pollachi Forest Range Officer K. Gnanabalamurugan attributed the incident to the elephant being in its musth period. The employees sustained only minor injuries.
