Thu Jan 23 19:29:33 IST 2025: ## BJP Demands Karnataka CM’s Resignation Amidst MUDA Scam and Law and Order Concerns
**Mangaluru, January 23, 2025** – BJP MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta today demanded the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over an alleged MUDA land scam and the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Addressing a press conference, Chowta cited the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) findings, which deemed the allotment of 14 alternative sites to the Chief Minister’s wife as illegal and led to the provisional attachment of over ₹300 crore worth of properties.
Chowta, also the BJP’s state secretary, highlighted a significant increase in crime, particularly citing alarming statistics on rape cases in Bengaluru and across Karnataka. He stated that 178 out of 563 reported rapes in 2023-24 occurred in Bengaluru alone, and a further 166 were reported in the city between April and November 2024. He also claimed a ₹2,600 crore loss due to cybercrime in 2024, and an escalating drug menace. He further accused Congress leaders of interfering in police administration and said the state’s economic condition has collapsed.
The BJP MLA’s from Mangaluru, Y. Bharat Shetty and D. Vedavyasa Kamath, echoed these concerns, adding that the rampant transfer of government officials and a lack of funds for development corporations further exacerbate the situation. The BJP announced plans to raise these issues in the upcoming Parliament session.
