Thu Jan 23 16:34:25 UTC 2025: ## India’s Soaring Aviation Sector: A Davos Declaration

**Davos, Switzerland** – India’s civil aviation sector is taking off, according to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, who announced at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos that India is now the world’s third-largest domestic civil aviation market. The minister expressed confidence that India is poised to become the number one market, citing a 10-15% annual growth rate.

Kinjarapu highlighted the government’s proactive role in supporting this expansion. He noted that India has expanded its airport infrastructure significantly, increasing the number of airports from 74 to 159 in the last decade, surpassing the current capacity needs of airlines. The minister emphasized that existing airports have also undergone capacity expansions to accommodate future growth. The government is actively encouraging aircraft manufacturers to expedite deliveries to meet the surging demand, ensuring increased connectivity and affordability. Simultaneously, robust training programs are underway to ensure a sufficient workforce of pilots and cabin crew to manage the influx of over 2,000 aircraft on order.

Addressing recent bomb threats targeting Indian airlines, Kinjarapu stated that all threats were hoaxes. He praised the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs and investigative agencies in swiftly addressing the situation. Amendments to aircraft security rules and the implementation of a no-fly list for perpetrators have been implemented. Authorities have already apprehended individuals responsible for some of the hoax calls, revealing some to be pranks.

India’s strong presence at the WEF in Davos, with a delegation including five Union ministers and three chief ministers, aims to further strengthen international partnerships, attract investment, and showcase India’s commitment to sustainable development and technological innovation.
