**Yallapur, Karnataka, January 22, 2025** – A tragic road accident in Uttara Kannada district claimed the lives of nine people and injured at least sixteen more early Wednesday morning. The accident involved a truck carrying approximately forty people, laden with fruits and vegetables, which overturned in the Arabail ghat region near Yallapur.

The victims were reportedly travelling from Savanur in Haveri district to the Kumta weekly market. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, and the death toll may rise given the severity of the incident. The injured have been transported to the Yallapur taluk hospital.
