Wed Jan 22 13:18:50 UTC 2025: ## Krishnagiri Reservoir Reaches Full Capacity After Two Years

**Krishnagiri, January 23, 2025** – The KRP reservoir in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, reached its full capacity of 52 feet for the first time in two years on Wednesday, January 22nd. This marks a significant recovery for the reservoir, which experienced a breach in 2017, reducing its capacity to 32 feet. Subsequent repairs increased the capacity to 50 feet, and finally to 52 feet in 2022.

While the reservoir’s full capacity is cause for celebration, officials noted a concerning issue: the water is being choked by water hyacinths. Despite a steady inflow since the beginning of January culminating in 220 cusecs on Wednesday, an outflow of 285 cusecs was maintained to manage the situation. The reservoir last reached its full capacity in 2022.
