CHENNAI, January 22, 2025 – Anaka Narayanan, founder of Brass Tacks, has unveiled “The Maheshwar Edit,” a new capsule collection celebrating the traditional weaving techniques of Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh. The collection, currently on display and for sale at Silkworm Boutique in Chennai, features shirts and tops in bold stripes for men and women, crafted from soft, breathable, non-mercerized cotton.
Narayanan spent significant time in Maheshwar apprenticing with weaver Nisha Verma, learning the intricacies of the craft firsthand. This experience deeply influenced the collection, focusing on the unique texture and character of handwoven fabrics. Photographs documenting her apprenticeship are displayed alongside the garments, highlighting the process and collaboration.
While Narayanan previously ran Brass Tacks as a full-fledged clothing label, she relaunched it with a renewed focus on artisan collaboration and textile quality. The Maheshwar Edit showcases simple silhouettes, allowing the exquisite fabric to take center stage.
