**WASHINGTON, D.C.** – J.D. Vance was sworn in as the 50th Vice President of the United States in a private ceremony held Monday morning in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh administered the oath, witnessed by President Donald Trump, Vance’s family, and other officials.
Vance, who wore a custom-made navy blue suit, placed his hand on a family Bible – a gift from his grandmother before he joined the Marines – as he took the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.
Prior to the inauguration, Vance and his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, attended a traditional Inauguration Day service at St. John’s Episcopal Church before meeting with former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff. The ceremony was described as intimate.
