**Mumbai, January 21, 2025** – Actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday, five days after he was stabbed during an alleged robbery attempt at his Bandra residence. The attack, which occurred on Thursday, January 16th, left Mr. Khan with six injuries, including damage to his thoracic spine. Doctors successfully removed a 2.5 mm piece of the knife during surgery.
The accused, Shariful Islam Shahzad, a Bangladeshi national living in India under the alias Vijay Das, was arrested two days after the incident in Thane. Police have taken Shahzad into five days of custody for questioning and have collected 19 fingerprints from Mr. Khan’s residence to aid their investigation. They also conducted a crime scene reconstruction with Shahzad.
Following his discharge, Mr. Khan appeared stable and was escorted home by security personnel and police. Security measures at his residence have been significantly increased, with CCTV cameras being installed and additional security grills fitted to windows and balconies. Actor Ronit Roy, who owns a security agency, was reportedly involved in overseeing the enhanced security arrangements.
