**Madurai, Tamil Nadu – January 22, 2025** – Sugantha Biswas, a resident of Katrapalayam, has been arrested by Madurai City Police on charges of practicing medicine without a license. The arrest follows a complaint filed by R. Selvaraj, Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services.
Biswas was operating a clinic where he offered allopathic treatment for ailments like piles, despite lacking any formal medical education or registration with the Tamil Nadu Medical Board. Following a tip-off from locals, Selvaraj investigated and confirmed Biswas’s illegal practice. The case was filed under the provisions of the National Medical Commission.
