**VISAKHAPATNAM, January 21, 2025** – To celebrate National Girl Child Day on January 24th, post offices in Visakhapatnam will host a special mela to encourage parents to open Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts for their daughters. The scheme allows parents of girls under 10 to deposit between ₹250 and ₹1.5 lakh annually in an account held in the child’s name. According to Senior Superintendent of Postal Department Visakhapatnam division Gajendra Kumar Meena, this account offers higher interest rates than other similar schemes. The mela will provide information and assistance to those interested in opening these accounts.
