Mon Jan 20 16:02:49 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Launches Pilot Land Resurvey Project

**Vijayawada, January 20, 2025** – The Directorate of Survey, Settlements and Land Records (DSSLR) in Andhra Pradesh launched a pilot project on Monday to resurvey 627 revenue villages. This initiative aims to purify land records and reduce land disputes, a significant problem in the state, as evidenced by over 280,000 grievances registered in the last seven months alone.

The resurvey employs a modern approach, utilizing drones synchronized with Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) to generate Ortho Rectified Images (ORI). Ground surveys will commence upon receipt of the ORI. Teams of village officials will conduct the on-the-ground work, dividing the land into 200-250 acre blocks. The DSSLR has established dedicated communication teams to inform villagers about the resurvey process and address concerns. Notices are being disseminated via registered post, WhatsApp, and public postings.

A senior DSSLR official explained that while land surveys are ideally conducted every 30 years, this has not been consistently implemented. The official noted that while 65-80% of existing records are accurate, the resurvey will reconcile the remaining discrepancies. The project aims to clearly establish land boundaries and ownership, thereby significantly reducing land disputes. The official emphasized the importance of public participation in the process. Information on accessing land records via the Mee-Bhoomi website will also be provided.
