Tue Jan 21 17:40:00 IST 2025: ## Local Man Arrested for DUI, Deer Causes Minor Accident in Fayette County

**Oelwein, IA (January 21, 2025)** – Fayette County experienced a bitterly cold day with sunshine giving way to afternoon clouds, reaching a high of only 6°F. Strong winds, gusting up to 25 mph, are expected to continue into the night. These conditions contributed to a pair of incidents reported by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., a car-deer collision occurred on Highway 93 near Randalia. William Clark, 54, of Fayette, struck a deer while driving westbound. Damage to his 2024 Promaster Ram van is estimated at $3,000, but thankfully no injuries were reported.

Later in the day, at 4:12 p.m., a traffic stop on Fillmore Road near Elgin led to the arrest of Brian Lee Moser, 57, of Elgin, for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (OWI). Moser was charged with a serious misdemeanor (OWI 1st offense) and received citations for open container, driving with an expired license, and a written warning for lack of proof of insurance. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Jail.

The National Weather Service forecasts a continued cold snap with a chance of snow showers later today, with a high of 29°F. Less than one inch of snow accumulation is expected.
