Tue Jan 21 06:27:13 UTC 2025: ## Box Office Disappointment: “Emergency” and “Azaad” Suffer Sharp Drop in Collections

**Mumbai, India** – Both Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency” and the debutante-led “Azaad” have experienced disappointing box office results, with collections plummeting significantly by their fourth day.

“Emergency,” a historical drama depicting India’s 1975-77 Emergency period, opened modestly at ₹2.5 crore (approximately $300,000 USD) but saw a weekend boost, reaching ₹10.35 crore. However, Monday’s collections fell sharply to ₹1 crore, bringing the four-day total to ₹11.35 crore. The film faced further challenges with a ban in Punjab.

“Azaad,” featuring newcomers Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgan, fared even worse. Its initial Friday collection of ₹1.5 crore barely improved over the weekend, accumulating ₹4.55 crore in three days. Monday saw a drastic drop to ₹0.53 crore, resulting in a four-day total of ₹5.08 crore.

While “Emergency” currently leads in overall collections, both films’ sharp decline in viewership raises concerns. Both productions now rely on positive word-of-mouth and strategic promotion to salvage their box office performance in the coming days, with no major film releases scheduled to compete immediately.
