**Mumbai, India** – Kangana Ranaut’s directorial debut, “Emergency,” a biographical political thriller depicting Indira Gandhi’s imposition of the 1975 Emergency, has crossed ₹10 crore at the Indian box office. However, the film’s momentum has slowed considerably. While initial box office figures showed a promising opening day collection of ₹2.5 crore, followed by ₹3.6 crore and ₹4.25 crore on the second and third days respectively, the fourth day saw a significant drop to ₹0.93 crore, representing the film’s lowest single-day collection to date. The total currently stands at ₹11.28 crore. Hindi occupancy on the fourth day was a mere 6.50 percent.

Despite the slowing box office performance, Ranaut expressed gratitude to fans for their support via a video message on Instagram. She addressed the protests against the film in Canada and Britain, urging viewers to watch the film and decide for themselves whether it unites or divides the nation.

Reviews have been mixed. While the Hindustan Times praised Ranaut’s performance, particularly in the film’s second half, criticizing the first half as slow.

“Emergency,” co-produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, stars an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, and Milind Soman. The film’s performance will be closely watched in the coming days to see if it can gain further traction.
