**VISAKHAPATNAM, January 22, 2025** – Visakhapatnam Police have made significant headway in a large-scale cricket betting operation, arresting 10 individuals and freezing ₹45 lakh in assets. Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi announced the arrests on Tuesday, stating that the investigation is ongoing and targeting the ringleaders.
The investigation, which involves the city’s cybercrime unit, has uncovered approximately ₹178 crore in transactions across 90 identified bank accounts. Police utilized advanced technology to track the bookmakers and are confident of apprehending the key figures involved in the racket. In a separate announcement, Commissioner Bagchi highlighted a significant decrease in house break-ins during the recent Sankranti holiday season. House break-ins have dropped from a high of 12 in 2021 to just three this Sankranti, with one case already solved.
