Tue Jan 21 14:29:17 UTC 2025: ## Bomb Threats at Erode Schools Turn Out to Be Hoaxes
**ERODE, INDIA (January 22, 2025)** – Two private schools in Erode, Tamil Nadu, received bomb threats via email on Tuesday, prompting immediate evacuations and thorough searches by police and bomb disposal squads. The threats, however, proved to be hoaxes.
Bharathi Vidya Bhavan Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Thindal received an email around 1:30 p.m. warning of planted bombs. Students and teachers were evacuated, and parents were contacted to collect their children. School vans assisted in transporting students home. A subsequent search by the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) and police found no explosives.
A similar incident occurred at Achariya Siksha Mandir in Vannankattu Valasu around 3:30 p.m. This school also received a bomb threat via email, leading to another evacuation and search. This threat, too, was determined to be a hoax. Classes resumed at both schools following the all-clear. Police are investigating the origin of the threatening emails.
