Tue Jan 21 11:00:00 IST 2025: ## Free Ration Scheme: Mandatory KYC for 80 Crore Beneficiaries

**New Delhi:** The Indian government’s free ration scheme, benefiting approximately 80 crore people since the COVID-19 pandemic, has undergone a significant change. To continue receiving free rations, beneficiaries must now complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. This mandatory e-KYC process is being implemented to ensure transparency and target the scheme’s benefits to eligible individuals.

The Food Department is facilitating the e-KYC process, urging all ration card holders to complete it for themselves and all family members. Failure to complete the e-KYC will result in the discontinuation of free rations.

The government emphasizes the KYC process to accurately identify beneficiaries and prevent ineligible individuals from accessing the scheme. Beneficiaries can complete their e-KYC by visiting the Food and Logistics Department’s official website ([http://fcs.up.gov.in/](http://fcs.up.gov.in/)) and following the instructions. The process involves entering ration card details, verifying an OTP, and completing biometric verification for all family members.
