Sun Jan 19 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Usha Vance: From Yale Law to Second Lady

**Washington, D.C.** – As Donald Trump and JD Vance prepare for their inauguration as President and Vice President on Monday, the spotlight will also shine on Usha Vance, the incoming Second Lady. Mrs. Vance, a 38-year-old lawyer and mother of three, will be present at the swearing-in ceremony alongside her husband and children.

A former corporate litigator at Munger, Tolles & Olson, Mrs. Vance, born Usha Chilukuri, boasts an impressive academic background. She graduated from Yale University, earned a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University (with a Gates Cambridge Scholarship), and graduated from Yale Law School, where she met her husband. A registered Democrat until 2014, she later clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Raised in San Diego by Hindu Indian immigrant parents, Mrs. Vance recently told Fox News that while her family’s faith shaped her upbringing, she is not Christian. In JD Vance’s memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” he describes his wife as his “spirit guide,” highlighting her unwavering support.

The Vance family will relocate from Cincinnati to the United States Naval Observatory, the traditional residence of the Vice President and family, following the inauguration. While the role of Second Lady is primarily ceremonial, Usha Vance’s presence is sure to add a significant dimension to the new administration.
