Mon Jan 20 20:50:00 IST 2025: ## Telangana Minister Reddy Assures Ration Cards for All, Slams Opposition
**Hyderabad, Telangana, January 20, 2025** – Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy today announced that all eligible citizens will receive new ration cards, addressing public concerns surrounding the distribution process. He stated that the distribution is ongoing and refuted claims of manipulation by the opposition. Reddy urged those whose names are missing from the list to apply through Prajavani (public grievance redressal system) or Gram Sabhas (village meetings).
Reddy further announced that once the process is complete, every individual will receive 6 kg of rice. He criticized the opposition, particularly the BJP, for spreading misinformation about the new ration cards, accusing them of resorting to baseless criticism. He specifically targeted former minister Harish Rao, accusing him of spreading false information and engaging in petty politics regarding the tribunal’s decision on Krishna river water allocation.
Reddy highlighted the financial burden of the scheme, stating that the government will bear a cost of ₹11,000 crore for the distribution of subsidized rice. He also accused the previous BRS government of failing to distribute more than 40,000 ration cards in ten years of its rule. He criticized Chief Minister KCR for alleged inaction on irrigation projects and for neglecting Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna river water. The minister recalled KCR and Harish Rao’s signatures on an agreement allocating 299 TMC of Krishna water to Telangana, accusing them of going back on their promises.
